Sybil Ingram, Ph.D.

Dr. Sybil Ingram learned at an early age that proper pronunciation is essential. After spending time visiting her family in the South, she began to appreciate different dialects and realized that it’s not what you say, but how you say something that can be easily misinterpreted. Based on her own experiences, Dr. Ingram was inspired to write about Weesie. Her interest in communication has lent itself well to her career and she is currently a professional in healthcare information systems. She has always enjoyed cheerleading: three years in high school and four in college, and now cheers twice a year with the Tennessee State University Alumni Cheerleaders Association. She also enjoys living just outside of the big city of Atlanta.

Have you ever been misunderstood? Even by your mom or dad? What happens when what you mean to say doesn't come out the way you hope?

Weesie is a little girl who loves to visit her relatives Down South, but sometimes her words don't come out just right. Join her on a "wha-el" of a tale of accents, singing, new words, and mispronunciations.
